List of dialling codes in Germany

Germany uses a closed telephone system, with different dialling codes (also known as area codes or prefixes) for each region. There are 16 states in Germany, each with its own dialling code. For example, Berlin has the code 030, Munich has the code 089, and Hamburg has the code 040. When calling within Germany, you only need to dial the area code and the local phone number. When calling from abroad, you will need to dial the international access code (00 or 011) followed by
